These are typically used in schools that do not have money for Microsoft Office licenses.

Free programs are increasing in popularity. There are other programs like doPDF that are allowing people to turn any document into a PDF file. It is free and very valuable in the workforce. Other programs like Freemake Video Converter and Divx are also great for playing and converting a variety of video types.
